Igreja Matriz de Condeixa

Igreja Matriz de Condeixa is a catholic church located in Condeixa-a-Nova. cm-condeixa.pt
Built in the 11th century, it was sacked and burned in 1811 during the French invasions. Its reconstruction in 1821 altered its layout, giving it the neoclassical style it still presents today, but maintaining some traces of the original Manueline style (the exterior portals; inside, the chancel and the decorative tile panels).
Built in the 16th century by order of King Manuel I, during his visit to the town, the Church of Santa Cristina replaced an old church that existed on the same site, fulfilling the aspirations of the population, who were deeply dissatisfied with having to travel to the churches of Sebal or Condeixa-a-Velha to attend Sunday Mass.
Beautiful church in the center of the town!!
