As a history major, going to see the Conímbriga ruins was definitely an experience. See Roman architecture that is still standing today in a sort of remote area is amazing. Not crowded at all, so you can explore at your own pace. I would suggest going during spring so it is a little cooler.

Nicely preserved Roman ruins. Amazing mosaic on the floors. Stanning fountains with mosaic all around. We have spent almost 4 hours wondering around, reading all information, and enjoying the history. It's pretty hot when the day is sunny.
