Gerasimos is the patron saint of Kefalonia, so the Monastery of St. Gerasimos is a sacred place for every citizen of Kefalonia. The relics of the Saint are kept in a glass case which is placed above the Saint's tomb. Gerasimos came from the aristocratic and wealthy Notaras family.

Quite outstanding for a quick trip and the lunch in the taverna along the street. Incredibly good and silver. Take a drive away from the beach. The trees are also outstanding as many are 500 yrs old. !
