Ermita del Santísimo Cristo
Ctra. Guijo de Coria, 2, 10817 Calzadilla, Cáceres, Spain
Ermita del Santísimo Cristo is a church located in Calzadilla.
Very beautiful and original. Inside are the remains of the famous Calzadilla lizard. According to legend, a large lizard or crocodile that fed on the local herds until a shepherd hunted it with his staff, which he converted into a shotgun. Both the staff and the remains of the lizard are preserved in this building.
A fairly large chapel with a fairly simple, unadorned exterior. The interior is also quite simple, but it has a beautiful altar.
A chapel famous for its curious "lizard"... An alligator that came from the Indies.
