Capela de Nossa Senhora das Neves
Largo das Neves, Portugal
Capela de Nossa Senhora das Neves is a chapel located in Neves.
This chapel was built in the 16th century, most likely in fulfillment of a promise, by João Pires Ramalho, an emigrant who returned from Brazil and founder of the Morgadio da Casa da Torre, which was once linked to the chapel. On August 5th, the impressive procession takes place in memory of the miracle of Our Lady of the Snows.
A place of utmost importance to the Neves family! In homage to Our Lady of the Snows. Several Portuguese people and their descendants adopted the surname Neves. Also known in Europe as Santa Maria Maior.
A very touristy town with a festival that's shown on public TV every year
