The church and monastery buildings were built in the 13th century, funded by Duke Henry II the Pious. After being reclaimed by the Franciscans, the monastery buildings were recently restored. A pre-war fountain with a heron has been recreated in the square.

The church is open and open for entry. This is news worth sharing these days. It's a large church with three gates, beautiful stained glass windows, and without excessive ostentation. It has a beautiful main altar and a slender pulpit.
