Kaplica pw. św. Jerzego
Baniewicka, 74-110 Banie, Poland
Kaplica pw. św. Jerzego is a shrine located in Banie.
Here we began our "historical" walk through the village, because next to the zipline is the Chapel of St. George from 1417, which was initially a shelter for the sick and later the site of tragic events that led to the eternal ban on the once-famous mystery plays in Banie.
A well-maintained place with a unique history, located near the beach. Above the entrance door, you can peek inside through a grate. Next to it are several plaques about the history of Bania. You can park your car in the parking lot opposite the beach.
This stone and brick Gothic structure was built in 1417 by the Order of St. John. Initially, it served as a shelter for the sick. Since the 15th century, it has served religious purposes. It is listed in the register of historic monuments.
