The setting is interesting and the Sanctuary is evocative from the outside, but the closure between 12 and 4 pm certainly does not encourage tourists to stop by.

Outside the portico, on the right of the square, you'll find a very good water source that people come from far away to collect. The Sanctuary is a place of hospitality for pilgrims traveling from Loreto to Rome. Very close by is the hermitage of Blessed Angelo. To the left of the church is a shop selling religious items.

Let me start by saying that I've spent my entire life in Gualdo, and I grew up in this convent, and things like this have never happened to me. I felt uncomfortable talking to a young friar from the sanctuary because he was arrogant, a transgressor of the Franciscan faith, insinuating, and rude.
