Oratorio di San Lorenzo
16016 Cogoleto, Metropolitan City of Genoa, Italy
Oratorio di San Lorenzo is a church located in Cogoleto.
The oratory's origins likely date back to the 13th century. The exterior is decorated with a bas-relief depicting Saint Lawrence, the work of the Savona artist Antonio Brilla (1813–1891). …
Surrounded by an unusual setting for someone like me, unaccustomed to living near the sea, it's a structurally normal church, with a nice "scenic" presence provided by the vegetation.
On the occasion of the patronal feast, I went to Cogoleto to visit the church and oratory. The oratory houses the crucifixes that are carried in procession along with the coffin of San Lorenzo. The Christs are of an indescribable beauty, never seen before. It's truly worth a visit.
