A plaque on the bell tower of the church of the same name (Beata Vergine del Pilar, better known as the Madonna di Castenaso) commemorates Gioacchino Rossini, who owned a villa here where he lived for several years. His wedding to soprano Isabella Colbran was also celebrated in the church in 1822.

I attended the concert marking the anniversary of Gioacchino Rossini's wedding to soprano Colbran. The atmosphere was beautiful, and Maestro Cavazza was talented and charming, alternating his conducting with readings of some of Rossini's aphorisms.
