Built over the pre-existing Church of San Pietro in Carcere. In the 1930s, work was done on the façade to make the Mamertine Prison accessible. The church's masterpiece is the coffered ceiling with pure gold leaf. Although it collapsed in August 2018, it has been fully restored.
