The church has two facades, one of which is more recent. It is believed to have been built by order of Saint Proculus, the first bishop of Carsulae, between 276 and 310. It was later destroyed by the barbarian invasions and rebuilt in the 6th century by order of Constantine, Bishop of Narni.
