It is the oldest Catholic place of worship in the city of Ferrara and is located on the right bank of the Po di Volano. Older than the current cathedral, the basilica served as the bishop's seat until 1135, when it was moved to the current Ferrara Cathedral, also dedicated to Saint George, in the city center.
