The monastery of Panagia Pelekiti, a imposing post-Byzantine monument, is built on a steep and high cliff (1.400m) of Pindos, one kilometer northwest of the village of Karitsa. Tradition says that the name "Pelekiti" is due to the fact …
Built on an almost vertical slope of the mountain barely accessible (maybe this was precisely the idea) above the mountain village of Karitsa ( which by the way means "small walnut"). Breathtaking vistas of the surrounding mountains and of the lake.
