Panagia Armata Church
Spetses 180 50, Greece
Panagia Armata Church is a chapel located in Spétses.
The church is located in the municipal grove which is enriched with metal and iron sculptures, interestingly by Natalia Mela. Also, there are some cannons at the site. In general, the place has an incredible view, a very beautiful route and I recommend the walk and the visit at dusk.
It was built between 1826-1830 by the historic Spetses family of Ioannis Koutsis in honor of the birthday of the Virgin Mary. The Virgin Mary of Armata is celebrated every year on September 8th and is located very close to the island's lighthouse in the old harbor.
Beautiful little church, in the forest, on the way to the lighthouse. It is worth walking there and visiting.
