Good bus trip from Symi port,book through Dodekanisos ferry from Rhodes town. 20 minutes each way and you have 1hr to visit which was enough to walk around and have a drink the cafe next door.

Nice and peaceful monastery but if you're missing it or won't be able to visit - you're not missing all that much. There is almost nothing else here. If you have more time on Symi town, you can get a bus, it's 30 minutes away, but not sure …
