Eglise Notre-Dame d'Aquilon : 05600 Guillestre, France

Consecrated in 1532, Notre Dame d'Aquilon was built on the site of a Romanesque church. You can admire on the north facade the so-called "real" porch whose columns are adorned with lions, typical of Lombard architecture.

I always think of my friend Max, who lives right next to the church, when I pass through Guillestre along the Durance River on my way to St. Crépin. I've visited old Guillestre several times, and especially the church, which is very beautifully decorated.

A sober church, in pink marble, bright. Dedicated to Our Lady of Aquilon. We feel at peace there...
